RAWLISON

2017 - 2022

Conceptualized as a series of three cantilevered concrete boxes, this single family home sits embedded within a modest hill in Langley. Each concrete box is staggered and offset, cantilevering beyond the building footprint to establish covered outdoor living space for the storey below.

The residence is glazed on the east and west facades with floor to ceiling curtain walls, while being supported by robust concrete walls on the north and south. With energy efficiency in mind, the building also incorporates an extensive geothermal system to heat and cool the structure, as well as a solar array to supply and subsidize electrical energy.
